As an exercise I downloaded a web page designed with one of those expensive WYSIWYG Editors. Here's what I discovered.
- The file size was 11.8KB
- There were 195 lines of HTML code between the <body> and </body> tags
- After stripping out the HTML, there were fewer than 35 lines of Actual Content
- Javascript was required to make the "rollover menu links"
I redid the page with CSS Layouts. Here's the results.
- The file size was reduced to only 4.79KB
- There were only 69 lines of (X)HTML code between the <body> and </body> tags
- The page still contained the same 35 lines of Actual Content
- The "rollover menu links" required NO Javascript. They were created with CSS
